What does the Winston-Salem evidence establish?

T-Mobile’s Winston-Salem Fiber page [1] is a current residential starting point with an address check. Spectrum’s North Carolina directory [2] lists Winston-Salem and distinguishes selected FTTH markets from its wider services. Use the provider’s actual property response before classifying your connection.

The August 2022 NorthState announcement [3] described expansion into underserved parts of Bethania, Lewisville and Winston-Salem. Its age matters: an announced build is not a current serviceability record, and the communities named are not proof that every Forsyth home has fiber today.

What if crews have worked near your street?

Record the provider name and the date on the construction notice. Ask that provider which milestone remains: address record, outside connection, property work or an installation appointment. A finished trench, new utility cabinet or neighbor’s accepted order answers a different question from your home’s orderability.

Use the fiber verification checklist to keep unresolved items visible. If a checker substitutes a nearby address, retain the original address and request a correction; do not use the substituted result to place an order.

When should you end the old connection?

Plan around the new provider’s confirmed appointment and test the installed service before committing to the old account’s end date. Ask about short overlap costs, equipment return deadlines and charges if outside work delays the new installation. Put these into the 24-month cost worksheet.

This is a source review and switching worksheet, not a street survey or local speed benchmark. Tarheel Connect is an independent retailer; provider availability and existing-account support remain with the provider.

Moving into a rental or an unlisted new home?

Use the NC renter and HOA guide for bulk charges, covered-provider FCC rules, unit eligibility and property access. For a missing address, follow the new-home address checklist. Review an eligible offer with the Broadband Facts checker before deciding.

Questions before you order

Availability, prices and provider terms need confirmation. Here’s where to start.

Does the 2022 Forsyth expansion announcement prove fiber is ready now?

No. It describes a historical project. Ask the current residential provider to qualify your exact address and confirm an installable order.

Can I cancel Spectrum when I join a fiber interest list?

An interest list is not an accepted order or confirmed appointment. Establish the new service arrangements before choosing an old-service end date.
