1. Confirm the connection at your address

Start with your full street address and unit. Ask which product can be ordered now and whether an installation is needed. A ZIP, nearby fiber customer or construction announcement does not confirm eligibility.

Fiber to the home brings optical fiber to the premises. A hybrid fiber/coax network can use fiber upstream and coaxial cable for the final connection. Spectrum describes both architectures [1]; the company name alone does not identify the connection at your home.

Use ZIP research and public plan examples to prepare questions. Our experts confirm eligible products and ordering terms at your address.

2. Check what you need to improve

Write down what happens during your busiest hour: work calls, large uploads, streaming and gaming. Identify the rooms where problems occur. Compare each eligible plan’s typical upload and download speeds and latency, alongside its equipment.

Google explains [3] that its router speed test measures the router’s connection, while results also vary with the device, server and time. A single test cannot diagnose every problem.

If one room struggles, investigate Wi-Fi coverage and equipment before paying for a faster tier. Ask how the proposed setup will serve your important rooms and everyday tasks.

3. Compare the complete bill

Bring your current bill and the new written quote. The FCC’s consumer-label fact sheet [2] explains how labels bring together prices, introductory terms, data allowances and speed information. Read the label for the actual eligible plan.

  • Record the monthly total now, the promotion’s duration and the later rate.
  • Include required equipment, applicable fees, installation and any old-service overlap or cancellation charges.
  • Ask what changes to other services or discounts when you leave a bundle.

Compare the same 12, 24 or 36 months in our two-quote calculator. Treat an unknown charge as a question. Enter zero only when the charge is confirmed not to apply. A lower starting price alone does not settle the choice.

4. Confirm installation, then plan the switch

Confirm the accepted appointment or self-install eligibility, property access, equipment placement and any necessary permission. AT&T’s switching guide [4] recommends checking the current agreement, arranging an overlap and returning old equipment. Its installation and return instructions are provider-specific; ask both providers what applies to you.

Where practical, test the new connection with your normal household tasks before ending the old service. Account for overlap costs. Keep cancellation confirmation, equipment-return deadlines and receipts. An intended installation date is different from an accepted appointment.

Call with your service address, current plan and what you want to improve. Our experts check eligible options, compare the details and help place the order you approve. Calling or sending an inquiry does not place an order or book installation.
