Start with the whole household bill

A home-internet discount can look compelling while adding a more expensive mobile plan. A phone promotion can depend on keeping service longer than expected. Keep temporary credits separate from recurring service costs.

Verizon’s Mobile + Home terms distinguish home-internet categories, including terms for Fios plans purchased on or after September 3, 2026, and require qualifying accounts to remain active and in good standing. An older screenshot may describe different benefits from the offer available when you order.

Write down the current setup

List every phone line, watch, tablet and connected device you pay for. Separate service from device installments, insurance, subscriptions and optional features. For home internet, include the plan, equipment and required recurring charges.

Use recent bills and agreements. An account withdrawal can include an adjustment, delayed credit or earlier balance. Ask about unclear lines before treating them as normal monthly costs.

Keep coverage and compatibility alongside costs. Confirm the actual phone and where you need service. Home internet has its own address check; mobile coverage does not establish eligibility.

Request two quotes with the same choices

Ask for the setup with and without the bundle. Keep phone count, data needs, devices, home plan and options constant. If a lower price requires a different plan, show that change.

Mark unresolved items as questions rather than zero. The FCC Broadband Facts advisory explains the label’s role in plan prices, fees, data and typical performance. Read labels and the quote with separate bundle and device terms; the label may not answer every combined-account question.

Follow every credit to its end date

A bill credit can reduce the amount paid while leaving a device balance or service condition. Ask when it starts, how long it lasts, which account receives it and what stops it. A future credit is not money already received.

For AutoPay pricing, confirm the eligible payment method and enrollment. Ask whether a mobile plan change affects phone credits, the home discount or both.

Choose a period that includes the changes relevant to your decision. Add recurring charges for each part and one-time costs, then subtract only credits with confirmed eligibility. This is a comparison method, not a guaranteed saving.

Ask what the bill becomes when life changes

Price three scenarios: you move, one phone line leaves, or you replace home internet. Ask which credits, charges and prices change.

Xfinity’s cancellation guidance explains that mobile costs can change when qualifying Xfinity services end. Verizon’s terms tie benefits to qualifying services, too. Use these examples to read the actual offer rather than as a universal rule.

Ask whether billing uses one account or separate accounts and where questions go. Shared branding does not ensure an order change updates every account. Save confirmation numbers and review the first bills after switching.

Protect the number transfer and service handover

Have the receiving carrier confirm device compatibility, unlocking and the approved number-transfer process before cancelling an old line. Keep transfer codes and credentials in the carrier’s secure workflow.

For home internet, confirm activation or installation and old equipment-return instructions. Include any needed overlap. A desired appointment and an accepted appointment are different.

The internet-cost guide covers home-service details; the moving checklist coordinates an address change. See our Verizon mobile inquiry page for a conversation through Tarheel Connect. Eligibility and the current retailer route still need confirmation.

Common bundle questions

Is the biggest advertised discount the cheapest option?

Not necessarily. Compare all needed services, device obligations and post-promotion prices. A larger discount can apply to a higher starting price.

Should I switch my phone plan for cheaper home internet?

First confirm coverage, devices and the full household cost, including any additional mobile cost and switching obligations.

Can I keep mobile if I cancel home internet?

Ask about your particular plan. Service may continue while a discount ends or a charge applies. Get the resulting cost in writing.

Does this guide quote current prices?

No. It provides a comparison method. The provider must confirm the offer for your household, address, devices and ordering route.
